Wrap Up | June 2016

Damn June’s over, Julying! (lol see what I did there?)

Anyway, doing wrap ups makes me wonder how time could fly by so fast. June was a pretty great month, I turned 19!! (the only downer was that I never got to see Me Before You because I was buried in school work 😪).

Anyway, I read a total of 3 books and listened to the Six of Crows audiobook.

Here is the list of books I read this month (click on the title to see my review of it):

Favorite book of the month was definitely Six of Crows!

So exactly a week ago from today was my 19th birthday! Of course this was the perfect excuse to receive/buy a shit ton of books and have no one judge me. Continue reading “Wrap Up | June 2016”

Synopsis*

I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powerslike they’ve never seen.

Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three willcollide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her. It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

Review*

Okay so this story has probably the most intriguing group of character’s I have ever read about. The whole concept of an anti-hero really compelled to pick this up because I was so curious to see how it would all play out. Plus all the hype over this book drove me crazy with want! I just had to read this.

Unsurprisingly, I ended up loving this! It was such a unique book! I love Adelina and how dark and twisted she is even as the main character. Even the supporting characters are all “villains“. I just loved how Adelina embraced her  darkness and even when she tried to fight it, you can tell it was so half hearted. The struggle Adelina faced trying to tame her darkness was done in such believable way; it was brilliant – you could tell the exact moments she gives up or decided to fight her darkness. I’m just in awe of this book 🙌!

Overall I loved this book! It had a hold on me like very few books do. I just wished it was longer because it felt a little rushed but that’s probably because I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to pick up the next book!

Have you guys read The Young Elites?? Lets talk!
