TRAPPIST-1 Star Geekout + You Are Now a Step Closer to Living in Your Favorite YA Sci-Fi!

Before I even begin I just want to squeal a little bit about reaching 300 followers. Gah! Thanks you guys!

Anyways the world’s been abuzz about NASA discovering this new mini solar system that could possibly support life (water, plants, oxygen, the whole shabam!) and its kinda crazy how completely unexpected this news was. If you hadn’t heard this news; thanks for crawling out from under that rock to read my lil ol blog (lol)… Basically the news goes that around a star (40 light years away) named Trappist 1, seven [earth-sized] planets have been discovered and according to current investigations could possible support life. So we’re basically one step away from living in our favorite Sci-Fi novels right? The ones with the cool space ship battles and interplanetary wars (Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m looking at you…).

T5W #13: Favorite First Lines!

118368Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. Topics are set for every week so to join in on the fun just check out our goodreads group. This week’s topic is “Favorite First Sentences.” I’m pretty excited about this week’s topic because the first line of a book is like meeting a new person; first impressions matter! So these are some of the best first sentences that left a great lasting impression on me.

“I’m Pretty Much Fucked.”

I know I’ve talked about this one a lot but the first sentence from The Martian by Andy Wier was totally killer Continue reading “T5W #13: Favorite First Lines!”

Ruler of Books Tag!

I saw this book tag around booktube recently and it seemed really fun so I decided to do it! Lets just jump right in, if you were a ruler of books:

What book would you make everyone read

Oh this is so easy. Red Rising most definitely, because it’s my all time favorite book! I already spend my days shoving this into peoples faces so if I could somehow make reading this book mandatory I would!

You guys may not agree with me but I’m going to say dust jackets. You guys have no idea how much I loath dust jackets. The problem I have with them is that they’re soo pretty; that fact alone makes reading with them on so hard because I never wanna mess them up! Either way I always end up ripping them or losing them and every time one of those things happen a piece of my soul is shredded.

Totally Sarah J. Maas, the queen herself. I have never not loved any of her books so  if she ever wrote a book specifically for me I would die.

This one is tricky but I have to say Twilight, not because I hate it but because its one of the first physical books I ever bought for myself and I’ve had it for years and years so I think its time to let go you know.

I’m tempted to say Wink Poppy Midnight but then I saw this book and even though I’ve never read it the cover is just about the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. The cover artist Teagan White is a genius and I would totally commision her for a mural.

A Darker Shade final for Irene

Even though he does more harm than good most of the time, Kell definitely deserves the recognition that would come with his face on a coin. It would definitely cheer the guy up because he’s always so under-appreciated. I mean the guy is one of the last all powerful magicians the least I could do is put his face on a coin.

Ah this one is so hard because I’ve read so many great books in 2016. When I really think about it though only two books really shine through in my mind, these are Red Rising and A Court of Mist and Fury. Since I already used Red Rising at the beginning, the title for Ruler of Books 2016 is going to A Court of Mist and Fury! Sarah J. Maas absolutely slayed with this book so this shouldn’t be a shock…

That’s it! Thanks for reading as always! Happy reading!

Harry Potter Book Tag

So I was tagged to do this by Kirsty from Kirsty’s Book Reviews y’all should check out that lovely blog! Thanks to Bookidote also for creating this tag! The only rule of this tag is that you can’t use any of the Harry Potter books as answers.

A book in which you found the theme interesting but you’d like to rewrite it.

The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon: Overall I liked this book but I think the author bit of more than she could chew trying to juggle are the “heavy” themes covered in this book. I understand not all people feel this way but these are just my opinion so if I could re-write this book I definitely would. Continue reading “Harry Potter Book Tag”
