T5W #26: Top 5 Books on My Sci-Fi /Fantasy T.B.R.

118368Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. Topics are set for every week so to join in on the fun just check out the memes goodreads group. This week’s topic is Top SFF Books on Your TBR. Pretty straight forward right? We just gotta talk about the books begging to be read on our science fiction and fantasy TBRs (I’ll focus more on science fiction)(for me this list will consist of my most anticipated upcoming releases and old releases that I just haven’t been able to get to but still want to read very badly.)

Condensing this list to just 5 books is going to be sooo hard because I have so many Science Fiction books I’m looking forward to reading. Anyway I still did it, so just scroll below to see the ones I’m keeping an eagle eye on.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

27833670Published: July 26, 2016

I put this one as the first on the list because its the one I’m literally dying to get my hands on. Dark Matter is a book about a man who wakes up to a seemingly perfect life but this world he wakes up in isn’t his own. The book is basically him coming to terms with this new reality while also trying to get back to the life he knows and the people he loves. Sounds awesome right? Its been getting such rave reviews and I just want to hold it and caress it and use it as my pillow because it seems so amazing.

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsey Cummings

31394234Published: August 1, 2017

Yeah, I’m one of those. You know the ones who’ve been watching Sasha for years and now can’t wait to get their hands on this book. I’m just praying to the high heavens that this book is worth all my hype. I mean I read the original snippet of Zenith when it came out and it was okay but I’m hoping the full published book will be better. Anyway… we all know what the book is about now; a bloodthirsty space-pirate with hidden depths and her hot nemesis/lover/ex..thing… basically.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

17199504Published: August 20, 2013

Do I even need to explain this one. I’ve seen all the rave reviews and the hype trains that took off without me. My first impression of The Bone Season was that I though it would be some cool mystical fantasy but it turned out to be a cool mystical science fiction set in the future about a girl who can break into peoples minds and steal information. I’m getting major Inception vibes so I really want to read this one.

Sleeping Giant by Sylvain Neuvel

25733990Published: April 26, 2016

Firstly I just love the name Sylvain. I mean just try gently whispering it… Rolls of the tongue nicely doesn’t it? Ok creepy moment over. I just want to read this book so bad because firstly its so gorgeous (I could eat that cover) and secondly giant metal hands in the ground? Did somebody say intriguing? Yes well this book has been getting such good reviews and I really want to dive into it when I get my hands on it.

Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza

30269126Published: February 7, 2017

I saved the second best for last…. An empress about to claim her throne and a war-refugee trying to find fame in prejudiced world. This book seems so amazing, set in a war torn galaxy, Empress of a Thousand Skies has been likened a lot to Red Rising and that is my favorite book of all time so you can imagine how pumped I am to pick this up…

Thanks for reading guys!

    1. I saw the second book on Goodreads and the cover is just as amazing as the first… I can’t wait to pick up the first one and I’m so glad you enjoyed it because I’m so worried it won’t be as good as the hype

      1. I’ve never read anything by Lindsey Cummings before. I’m mostly excited for it becauseof Sasha Alsberg, who is one of my favorite booktubers.

  1. I’m loving your blog’s new look! Dark Matter sounds sooo good! The Bone Season as well! I haven’t heard great things about Zenith though so I’m personally not going to pick it up.

    1. Omg thank you! You haven’t read Bone Season too?
I’m still unsure about Zenith because I’m not a big fan of Lindsey Cummings (I tried The Murder Complex and I didn’t love it) so I’m still deciding on whether I’ll buy the book

  2. I want to read Empress of a Thousand Skies as well! I have it on my shelf – I’ll get to it…eventually…😓

I’ve been hearing a lot about Zenith – I don’t watch Sasha, but the cover looked interesting. I’ll have to look up a synopsis though – space pirates and (obviously) a typical YA love interest…It just sounds like a lot of other books I’ve read. I need to see what it’s completely about, I guess

    1. Can’t wait to hear what you think about Empress of a Thousand Skies! And to be honest I’m only looking forward to Zenith because I’m curious about Sasha’s writing because otherwise I’m not the biggest fan of Lindsey Cummings writing, I mean the Murder Complex wasn’t good (but thats just my opinion). I guess we’ll just have to see.
