T5W #14: These Ships Should Have Sailed!

I just realized I haven’t done one of these in forever! Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. Topics are set for every week so to join in on the fun just check out our goodreads group. This week’s topic is Favorite Non-Canon Ships. These are the couples you love, but they never got together in canon (canon meaning: what actually happened in the text). So basically ships you wished sailed but didn’t.

Number one is the mother of all unsailed ships and that is:

1. The Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo: Nikolai and Alina

Anyone who has read this series will totally get this!

Coming in close second is this pair:

2. A Game of Thrones by Gorge R. R. Martin: Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen

I admit this isn’t a bookish ship (because I’m yet to read the books) but I don’t care. I also don’t care that these two may be long lost siblings or whatever, I mean no one bats an eye at Cercei and Jaime!

This next one is a bit of a spoiler for those that haven’t read A Court of Mist and Fury!

3. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas: Feyre and Tamlin

I know I’ve stated (countless times) that Sarah J. Maas can do no wrong, but what I’ve learned to accept is she can do –  not wrong – but slight injustices. I mean poor TamTam, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for him. When I had learned that book boyfriends were actually a thing and it was not considered psychotic to have one, Tamlin was it for me and then ACOMAF happened – sigh.

4. The Host by Stephanie Meyer: Wanda and Jared

Screw Melanie and Ian, it should have been Wanda and Jared!

5. Percy Jackson Series: Percy and Rachel

Don’t get me wrong I’m fully team Percabeth but I always find myself wondering what could have been you know? Percy and Rachel would have been great though I think it would be a stretch to say I ship them, I would probably say boat them, that seems more fitting…

  1. Nice answers!
I think that the Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen ship can still happen. (’cause I’m also rooting for them). Unfortunately though, I’m an anti-Tamlin from the very start. And Percy… he and Reyna make a good team too.

      1. He was okay in ACOTAR I guess. But the revelation about the curse made me think he was just using Feyre somehow. And back in Amarantha’s court he never helped Feyre.. It was always Rhys to the rescue.

      2. Ah, looking at it from an outside perspective I can see where you’re coming from now but looking at it from Feyre’s perspective he could do no wrong so I guess that was were I got sucked into the whole Tamlin thing.
