I didn’t ask for any of this. I didn’t ask to be some kind of hero.
But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado – taking you with it – you have no choice but to go along, you know?
Sure, I’ve read the books. I’ve seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little bluebirds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can’t be trusted, Wicked Witches may be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There’s still a yellow brick road – but even that’s crumbling.
What Happened? Dorothy.
They say she found a way to come back to Oz. they say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.
My name is Amy Gumm – and I’m the other girl from Kansas.
I’ve been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.
I’ve been trained to fight.
And I have a mission.
So this was my 2nd re-read of this book, I was really excited to re-enter this messed up version of Oz and I still love it. It’s such a fun unique read but I wouldn’t call it a re-telling like most people do; more like what happened after the happily-ever-after. This book had such interesting plot; I mean sweet little Dorothy Gale evil, who could’ve imagined? Well Danielle Paige could and wrote this kick-ass awesome story.
This book starts out with Amy dealing with her drug addict mother and struggling to fit into high-school, she gets carried off by a tornado Wizard of Oz style and her adventure begins. This had surprisingly funny moments, but don’t be mistaken it gets real dark at some points I mean we have a psycho power-hungry Dorothy who doesn’t hesitate to kill and sentence people to Fates Worse Than Death.
Ok so generally this was such a good story, I loved the plot twist at the end and ugh that cliff-hanger!!

Picking up right after Dorothy Must Die the action continues. Amy is such an amazing, sassy character that I totally loved. She meets new characters and kicks more ass this time. This book was more action packed than the first one and the pacing was so fast and this was glaringly apparent because this book was way shorter than the previous one.
Amy gave me a little scare with the almost-love triangle but I thank my lucky stars it didn’t happen because I feel like it would have totally ruined this book.
Amy and Nox forever!
I didn’t like this book as much as the first one, I don’t feel like the plot went anywhere really but we got some character development so that saved this book for me. I also didn’t like the length, it just felt too short, too fast paced, but a great book nonetheless. Plus another cliff-hanger gah!!
Yellow Brick War (Dorothy Must Die #3)

Again this one starts off right where the last one ended, this was one of my most anticipated reads of this year and I’m kinda sad to say that it didn’t blow me away the way I thought it would, I mean the story was great and all the actiony scenes were fantastic but the pacing was just so rushed one thing after another kept happening. I blame all the novellas, I mean this series has 6 novellas worth of backstory out – with more on the way, I honestly don’t think I’ll read any of them
because I’m just lazy.
The way this book started was totally not what I expected when the last book ended. I don’t like how this book felt; firstly it was really short (like the last one) and it felt like every scene was a battle scene and I didn’t really enjoy that.
Another thing I didn’t like was how a certain someone was magically “cured”, I mean I know its a book set in a magical world but the solution just felt so easy.
I thought this was a trilogy only to turn the last page and find another freaking cliff-hanger!
Overall Review: The first book was pretty awesome. The second and third though action packed are lacking something and I think that’s caused by the fast pace of the story, I feel like if all the information in the novellas was added to these 2 books instead I would have definitely liked them more
but thats just me.
