Ruby Red (Precious Stone Trilogy #1) by Kerstin Gier

My Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis:

Gwyneth Shepherd’s sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era!

Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon–the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.

Review:

Wow! Just wow! You know when you’ve got no words to describe a book because it was pure awesome? This book was freaking amazing, I totally loved it!

Lemme just start by saying I loved the book Passenger (by Alexandra Bracken) so I kinda knew I would like this book because they are a little bit similar (the whole time travel issue) but I didn’t know I would love it this much!

It’s definitely a book that starts out so intriguing you wouldn’t even think of putting it down. There was never a dull scene in this book, as the story progressed it just kept getting better and better. The world building was perfect because I was learning things at the same time the protagonist (Gwyneth) was and since she knew nothing of the whole time travel world it made us sort of at the same level.

This book was a really fun read, it wasn’t as historically detailed as I would have liked but hey, who cares, right! Lemme just say Gwyneth was such a fun character and I loved how relatable she was in such unrelatable situations. Oh my gosh Gideon is my new book boyfriend even though he is kinda controlling I think it’s all part of his charm. I totally fell in love with these two characters.

I definitely cannot wait to watch the movie adaptation of this book and read it’s sequel (Sapphire Blue). I really really recommend you read this book if you haven’t, it’s funny, action-packed, full of time travel and romance! I mean what more could you ask for!
